All you ever wanted to know about shark jaws, but were afraid to ask…
or
How I learned to stop worrying and to love sharks !
by Jean-Pierre “Joe” Herber © 2001-2003
Hello, my name is Jean-Pierre “Joe” Herber and I am an amateur naturalist from Luxembourg and a long time member and supporter of the Shark Trust.

A word of warning about what you will see in this presentation: though there will be NO gruesome, bloody pictures of shark attack victims; unfortunately there will be NO pictures of any living sharks either, but only of dead specimens. Sensible souls who prefer to see these magnificent predators in their natural surroundings might thus be offended and might want to abstain.

All photographs were taken by me and may not be used without my permission.

All specimens shown are from my own reference collection or from those of fellow amateur naturalists or museum collections where indicated. The specimens in my collection come mostly from by-catch or trade with other amateur naturalists and scientists. What would otherwise have been a wasted resource now serves for education and research. I do NOT want to encourage collecting of jaws by individuals for conversation pieces or souvenirs.

Please hold all questions till after the talk, I will try to answer them then. I will also show a few specimens I brought with me, so you might not want to leave immediately after the presentation has ended.
